Born in the 80's growing up with pop culture and having icons like Madonna and TV like MTV it was inevitable that I would be inspired into a creative job. From being a toddler I would scribble on anything that would stay still long enough and found ‘art’ to be my form of release...by the age of 13 I discovered my mums camera with a ‘sticky out lens’ and the only way I would be allowed to use it is if I knew what the twidley bits did.

Producing images and taking the time to make them right gave me a good feeling and so I wanted to learn more. At the age of 14 I had my own darkroom, I attended a City & Guilds night school, I insisted my school set up a newspaper and I generally took photos of everyone and everything using bedsheets and lamps to create a studio. By the age of 17 I had my work in album inlays and in the local newspaper. I could see there was a career in this for me.

After completing my GCSEs I then did A Level Art (and psychology) where I specialised in photography. I started to get an interest for film making as well so followed my A Levels with a BTEC Media course. I arranged placements with Carlton TV and the BBC. I then went onto Uni to do a BA (hons) in Film & Video Production where I would learn the art of cinematography. After Uni the motivation wasn’t there and neither were the jobs. I worked various underpaid, under appreciated temping jobs hoping that an opportunity would arise in the industry. I gained more TV experience at MTV after applying for an internship. Very loose ‘maybes’ were placed for work and going to and from London proved expensive. In 2008 things had to change!  Jono (thelatelounge) helped me by letting me use his club to set up a portable studio for portrait sessions. These proved popular and I knew I had to do something. A corporate job came up for Il Rosso that meant I could afford to take the leap from semi pro to pro. I set up a studio in a small office in a Business centre. After 2 months of a freezing office with a dripping ceiling I moved to my current studio on Newgate Lane and I have never looked back. I meet interesting people all the time with a different story to tell and create images that show peoples personalities.

I still learn so as to improve the quality of my work and my passion is still there and I hope it shows. I have the constant love from a wonderful family, other half and friends and that support has pushed me forward in everything that I do.

I look forward to having a shoot with you at some stage in your life.
